My Eyeshadow Palettes// Best + Wost; A Tag

Hello, welcome back!

I know it has been a while since I have written. Life happens, am I right?

Today I wanted to talk makeup, I miss it. Remember when tags used to be so popular on Youtube? A few months back I saw some of my favorite beauty gurus talk about their eyeshadow palettes, and how some rediscovered old eyeshadow palettes. I wanted to make this tag to rediscover my fave eyeshadows palettes. My purpose on making this tag is not for you to run and buy all the palettes I am going to mention but to rediscover your makeup collection and see if you find some old favorites, feel free to answer the questions and leave them on the comments if not tag me on IG!

Without further ado let's begin!

1. Newest palette?

Celestial Thunder by Dominique Cosmetics

I bought this palette from my soon to be sister in law, she used to get Boxycharm every month, so she ended up with a lot of unused makeup. This is the Boxycharm edition so it doesn't have the same colors as the original one, but let me tell you the eyeshadow quality is actually pretty good. Got it for $10 a steal, right?

2. Oldest palette?

NAKED palette by Urban Decay

This was my first big palette purchase, I saved some money and my little sister helped me pay for it too. To this day is my favorite neutral palette, because is the palette that I learn to do my makeup with.

3. Most expensive palette?

Pro Palettes by Lorac

I feel like I have every single Lorac Pro Palette to this day, I know I am crazy. But I am not crazy enough to spend more than $65 on a makeup palette.

4. Most affordable palette?

Comfort Zone by Wet n Wild

Feel like this little palette is in some way or another in almost everybody's tag. It is one of the very first drugstores makeup palettes with good quality and affordable price.

5. Everyday palette?

The Emily Edit "The Needs" by Makeup Revolution

One of the biggest reasons why this is my everyday palette is because it has everything I need to do an everyday makeup look, it is a face/eye palette all in one! If I ever need to do my makeup on the run, this palette is perfect!

6. Most colorful palette?

Take Me to Brazil by BH Cosmetics

I have other palettes that have lots of colorful eyeshadows, but this one is mainly COLORFUL eyeshadows just a few "neutral" colors. I feel like this is a good starter for people that want to experiment more with colors because it has a wide variety and the price tag is affordable.

7. Smallest palette?

Naked Basics by Urban Decay

This is so little it fits in my hand, and let me tell you my hand is little! I feel like this is my go-to palette when it comes to traveling because it takes no space in my makeup bag.

8. Biggest palette?

88 Original Palette by Coastal Scents

Oh good old days when every youtube praised Coastal Scents palettes, no drama back then. I still remember my first Coastal Scents order, I recently moved to the USA, and after getting a job, a saved up some money and ordered this and some other palettes and brushes.

9. Best memory?

Chocolate Bar by Too Faced

This was my second high-end palette. My cousin Haydee and my cousin Juan gave it to me on my first Christmas when I moved here. I was just so excited to have the palette and I would use it almost every time I did my makeup. I love it!

10. A palette that is worth the hype?

Modern Renaissance by Anastacia Beverly Hills

Palette worth, EVERY PENNY! I did not know how much red-oranges eyeshadows complements my eye color until I got this palette, also every time I use this palette I get the best compliments. Anastacia has one of the best eyeshadows formula.

11. A palette not worth the hype?

Any Jeffree Star Cosmetics

#sorrynotsorry.

12. Favorite palette from a favorite brand?

Reina del Caribe Vol 1 by Alamar Cosmetics

Latina's own brand check! Also the names, the quality everything! I love all the looks I have done with this palette!

13. Most used palette?

Bissu palette

This palette is so used, it doesn't have a name anymore. My dad actually bought this for me, a long time ago when I was starting to do my makeup. I've hit pan on 2 eyeshadows, the same ones I use to do my eyebrows every day. The lasting power is amazing, and they are the perfect color match for me.

14. Most underrated palette?

Get Ready With Me by Collab

This is a palette I rarely use but it surprises me every time I use it, the quality and looks I can create are amazing! If you want a palette that doesn't require you to think too much, this is a good option.

15. A favorite palette that was limited edition?

Master Palette by Mario by Anastasia Beverly Hills

This palette makes me fall in love with neutral looks. The names, the colors, the payoff, the texture of the eyeshadows, everything about this palette is perfect!

16. Best dupe palette?

Truenaked Peach Punch by Covergirl

This a good alternative if you want to get not the same eyeshadows but look as with the Sweet Peach palette by Too Faced, both smell like peaches and have those peachy pop eyeshadow.

And that concludes the blog post, I am sorry I missed pictures for some palettes, but I am still kinda moving so I honestly do not know where I placed my other palettes haha.

Please share with me your answers to the question in the comments!

Take care ;)

TOP 5 NAIL POLISH FOR SPRING 2020

Thursday, April 9, 2020

Welcome back,

I know it has been a while since I wrote a post. Rona you guys. COVID-19 changed my life in a timespan of a month. And I know I am not the only one.

Honestly, I had very little motivation to do stuff, some days are good and I deep clean my whole house, other days I just want to curl up in bed and cry all day, other days I eat cold pizza for breakfast.

In times with uncertainty is all we have, I have learned to live ONE DAY AT A  TIME. And acknowledge how I feel, it is valid to be scared, sad, anxious.

I didn't want to post this because I felt like most of us the last thing we think about is painting our nails. I paint my nails to be present because painting my nails is an activity that requires my full attention if I don't want to mess it up.

All we have left is to be present and try our best to stay grounded.

Sending love and virtual hugs to all of you. Stay safe, be grateful, be kind, be loving.
And STAY HOME!

Anyway, after a somehow long intro, I'm going to share with you my top nail polishes picks for spring.

COVID-19 & Dealing with staying at home.

As most of us know, COVID-19 has the world right now under panic. In a society of fear and greed mixed with an easy contagious virus ain't no good combo. Most cities around the world are inducing social distancing encouraging their population to stay at home, school is canceled, many are working from home, and big crowed places or events are closed or canceled. This creates a big fear among people. School and work can be an escape from emotionally unstable people. Like me. The idea of not being able to go to school for another week frights me. Being at home makes me worry and makes me overthink.
So I kinda planned out my week so it would be easier to get through.

Let me give you some helpful definitions:

- Isolation = you have tested positive for the virus.

- Quarantine = you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus and are waiting to see if you develop symptoms.

- Social distancing = something everyone can do to reduce the risk of transmission.

But first...

WHAT THE HELL IS COVID-19?

If you've been living under a rock, the experts can help you out:
I ain't no scientist so check these websites for the love of God.
C.D.C

W.H.O

As for now, those two are the most reliable sources, do not believe everything you see on the internet. YOU KNOW BETTER!

WASH YOUR HANDS REGULARLY FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS.

AVOID CROWED PLACES.

COUGH & SNEEZE ON YOUR ELBOW.

AVOID SICK PEOPLE.

STOP PANIC BUYING.

Now let's get started with the stuff you can do now that we are stuck home, for most of the day.

PAINT WITH A TWIST (at home)

If you are panic buying, might as well get some wine and do some painting while sipping on some wine. Get some painting supplies at the dollar store and whenever you want, look up tutorial online and go at it, paint whatever you feel like it. Painting relaxes me. Let your mind go crazy.

READ A NEW BOOK

As the bookworm I am, I get excited about starting a new book because I will have more time to really get into it without interruptions.

PLAN A STAY AT HOME MOVIE NIGHT

Is 2020 most of us have streaming services. Get some snacks from the quarantine stash, find a good movie, get comfy and relax.
In this category can fall binge-watch your favorite show. The Office, here I come.

SPRING CLEAN

Baby, let those shirts from years go. It is time for a new start, organize your shit. Declutter, get rid of those things that do not spark joy anymore, as Marie Kondo says. You will have plenty of time.

WORK ON THAT HOBBIE YOU ABANDONED

That hobby that made you happy, work on it, you will have a lot of time. Get your supplies ready! and let get on it, baby!

In other words, do not let this extra time mess with your head, there is plenty of things we can do to ease our minds.
Other stuff to consider doing:

*Go for a walk.

*Skype with your friends.

*Learn a new language.

* Write letters.

*Do meditation.

*Create a playlist.

*Experiment with new stuff.

* Cook a new recipe.

*Make a garden.

*Water your plants.

Anyway, I hope everyone stays safe during this hard time, and for the sake of God, stop panic buying, some people really need to buy groceries and by the time they can go there is nothing left. Be mindful and helpful to others, at this time I send love to everybody.

Love & virtual hugs.

5 Reasons Why You Should Consider Going to Counseling.

Hello! I hope you all are having a wonderful time!

This blog post was intended to go up before New Years!

Today go grab a concha and brew your favorite coffee because we are going to get real!

I am going to start a new section:
Cafecito & Chisme. Spanish for Coffee & Gossip. Where I am going to get real about serious topics, and often taboo for our Latinx culture.

Today, I will talk about counseling/ therapy, and how it was helpful for my grieving process, and I will give you 5 reasons to start counseling as a new years resolution.

Background story:

My mom passed away when I was 14-ish. I knew from that moment that somehow I was going to grow up broken. Losing my mom at a young age, changed my life in many ways: I had to grow earlier, and I had to become the "mom" to a 7-year-old. My grieving process has been TOUGH! Because I had so many people telling me how I should grieve, act and think. Anyway, I'll leave that for another post.

I am by no means a professional and this is based only on my personal experience. You should do what's best for you always.

So let's begin!

1. You are dealing with an ADDICTION!

I strongly believe, most of our addictions are BAD coping skills to our trauma, our emotions, and stress. In a world where emotions are shut down and materialistic things are all that matters, we find comfort, in alcohol, food, drugs, shopping and more. I was a shopaholic, in fact, one of my favorite movies is "Confessions of a Shopaholic." Buying gave me "happiness" for a bit, then I felt guilty about spending money, then to shut that emotion I would buy more and the circle was an endless routine. Any addiction works the same way, you don't want to feel bad, so you do something to shut the emotion, drinking, smoking, shopping eating, etc. Society has made stress a bad thing. But in reality, a normal level of stress is what keeps you going. Having to pay bills, makes you go to work. The problem comes when stress is not managed properly or it's getting in the way of a healthy lifestyle. Emotions are what makes us human, and by no mean should be ignored. Getting help always works. Counselors listen, they provide coping skills. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

2. YOU ALWAYS END UP IN BAD RELATIONSHIPS.

And I do not only mean, romantic relationships but friendships too.

We are social animals, we want to be part of a group. We conform to fit in and often, involve in toxic relationships.  One thing I learned in counseling is NEVER SETTLE FOR SOMETHING LESS THAN WHAT YOU WANT. I had this void I needed to fill. Losing my mom left an emptiness and I engaged in toxic relationships because I wanted to feel "loved" not that I did not have love from my family, but I wanted to have a connection with someone. I always settled for less, for shitty relationships, and I always ended up hurting. I realized that I was just "comfortable" with having someone giving me half loving, and I preferred that than having no love at all. I realized that hurt me more because things would always end up bad, and I had to work on healing from that. I now have clear what I want. A healthy mind is a wonderful start for any relationship. I think we all had had a toxic relationship at some point in our life. Whether it is a friend or a partner. Toxic relationships are not normal. Nobody has the right to make you feel "less" or like you have to fight to feel loved! Find comfort in a friend or family member, and do not be afraid to walk away from the toxic person. There are always resources you can use, toxic SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION!

3. Your Childhood was tough.

You got some baggage. Shit (sorry for the language). The way you were raised is going to have a BIG impact on who you're going to be as an adult. I took a psychology class, and I learned a lot about how the brain works. Thus I can say, a healthy childhood brings healthy adults into society. There is a lot that goes into raising a child. I mean you gotta make sure you give them attention, but no too much! You gotta make sure, you put discipline but not too much to the point they feel like they are part of the army. Oh and you gotta protect them, but not to the point where they can't do anything by themselves. Anyway, let's move on, at this point (I believe must of us are adults) what our parents did during our childhood is now our responsibility and we have to take action. Like counseling. Blaming our parents, our circumstances are not going to change us, or in this case, heal us. I read a really good book in Spanish about this topic. It talked about the most common childhood traumas, and how it reflects later on in life. Most of our parents went through the same things as kids, but they did not realize they needed to "heal" and they passed that unto us. The enemy for progression is IGNORANCE. That ignorance is what makes us take bad decisions. After I read the book, I acknowledged that what happened to my parents wasn't my fault, and it also wasn't my fault what happened to me but because it is a part of me, it is my responsibility to move on and heal from that. With that being said, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think twice before what you say to a kid, it might be something that they are going to have to deal with later on life.

4. You lost someone close to you.

Ah, grieving.

I did an academic summary based on how having counseling sessions while grieving, improves your emotions, and prevents you from having depression or anxiety. Losing someone close to you sucks big time! And it sucks more when people tell you "You know, that's the life cycle."
Well, yeah Karen, but I have emotions and I have the right to feel angry!
Counseling gives you coping mechanisms, it helps make the process less "hurtful" and it makes you realize, everybody grieves differently. And there's no such thing as grieving too much or how you "should" grieve. Or maybe you lost a close person through a breakup, or they moved away. In a way, you have to grieve that person too! Never underestimate the power of THERAPY!

5. Because seeking help is always OKAY!

Latinx folks think counseling and mental health es del cucuy! Like "Uh you go to counseling" "Tu Estas loca" I learned to put those comments aside because my health is more important than some comments based on taboos. I grew up thinking I had to be strong all the time. I couldn't cry in public, because that was weak. That ain't true. First of all, showing emotions, and being vulnerable shows more strength than, pushing all the emotions aside. Let me tell you something, if you're sick, you go to the doctor right? Then why not seek help when your mind is having trouble too? We need to ask more resources for mental health, for schools, workplaces, communities. Mental health is IMPORTANT and should be acknowledged more.
